Abstract
Protective gear relays of electromagnetic and static types are widely used for the protection of power systems. The design of new relays based on the application of microprocessor is reported in the literature. This paper presents a new design principle for the digital directional relay based completely on digital units. The developed relay provides good discrimination using a new idea for the direction of power flow based on the use of voltage, current and the power factor without the need for their multiplication. This has reduced the operating time of the new relay.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
