Abstract
Abstract The bis(benzonitrile) complex [Ag(PhCN)2][B(C6F5)4] is synthesized from its tetra(acetonitrile) ligated congener. X‐ray diffraction studies were conducted to compare the bond lengths and angles of the complex in regard with those of other nitrile ligated silver cations with weakly coordinating anions. Vibrational spectra of the solid complex and in (concentrated) benzonitrile solution reveal differences in the strength of benzonitrile‐silver ion interactions.
