Abstract

A facultative diapause was induced in the larvae of a southern strain of Aedes triseriatus (Say) by photoperiodic treatment. Larvae, from ova kept on a 10-hour period of light per day during embryogenesis, were allowed to develop in the same 10-hour photoperiod. Diapause was expressed as arrested development of fourthstage larvae. Photoperiods and temperatures experienced by the adult mosquitoes exhibited no influence on diapause in their progeny.
