Abstract
OBJECTIVE describe the role of the epidemiological surveillance in dengue control. Dengue configures-as a serious public health problem, because it is a disease of great magnitude and prevails in urban centers. The political conditions, social and cultural interfere directly in the chain of transmission, as a result was drawn up the a research on the role of the epidemiological surveillance in dengue control. Note the epidemiological surveillance is responsible for control of the cases and reducing the number of occurrence of epidemics with activities to control, or is, early detection of virus and activities of blockade. Their actions are based on four subcomponentes laboratory surveillance, monitoring of cases, surveillance in areas of borders and entomological surveillance. Is of paramount importance recognize the epidemiological impact of dengue in society and recognize the main difficulties for the control of the epidemic, one of them is the awareness of people in the fight against vector transmitter of disease.Through this study, note-that the joint action of society and epidemiological surveillance strengthens further the fight against dengue and it is necessary to develop intersectorial actions of public policies, addressing the various determinants of prevention, to promote greater knowledge about the effects of a simple information and awareness of society in the control of the epidemic.
