Abstract

Background: Febrile seizures are seizures that occur if body temperature rise more than 38 0 C that caused by a process extracranium in children aged less than 6 years, no evidence of central nervous system infection or acute systemic metabolic disorders. Simple febrile seizures is 80% among all seizures. Patients were diagnosed with febrile seizures need to be treated soon to prevent further neuronal damage. Case: Boys age 3 years old diagnosed with a simple febrile seizure and hyperpyrexia. The patient had a high fever and convulsions of whole body twice in 48 hours, the length is less than 5 minutes. On physical examination the temperature was 40,2 0 C (by axiler), normoreflexes physiological, pathological and excitatory meningeal reflex not found. The results of routine laboratory tests of blood within normal limits. Medical treatments were O2 nasal administration of 1L / min, intravenous fluids Asering XX gtt/minute,  paracetamol syrup 4x1 cth, diazepam injection of 3.5 mg IV, and kutoin 200 mg in 50 cc of 0.9% NaCl for 30 min, and education to families. Conclution: Therafy of simple febrile seizure must be comprehensive, from therapy for acute phase, seeking for and treatment causes, profilaxis for recurrent of febrile seizure, and family education. Keywords : hyperpirexia, management therapy,  simple febrile seizure
