Abstract
Growth and multiplication of three algae, Isochrysis galbana, Tetraselmis chiiii and Nitzschia dosteritim, belonging to three different algal classes, was studied in the laboratory, using four culture media. The algae yielding different differential growth rates in the media, the experiment proved that no available culture medium is uniformly effective in all the cases, unless supplemented with either trace elements or vitamins, according to the specific requirement of the alga.
