Abstract

The studied area, northwestern Ogcheon zone, consists mainly of the Changri and Hwanggangri Formations of Ogcheon Group, and the metamorphosed plutonic rocks such as migmatite, hornblende pyroxene granite, monzodiorite, diorite and gabbro, and Jurassic Dae-bo granite complex intruding the above-enumerated geologic units. The metamorphosed mafic plutonic rocks which had been inferred to be Cretaceous intrusive rocks, are studied petrographically, and their crystallizing P-T conditions are calculated and estimated to be 5-6 Kb and 674-697°C near to igneous body and 8 Kb 610-650°C near to metapelites. It is similar with the P-T condition of the epidote-amphibolite to amphibolite facies of high grade metamorphic rocks of Ogcheon Group near the marginal part of Ogcheon metamorphic belt, which indicates the mafic plutonic rocks are related to the regional metamorphism of Ogcheon metamorphic belt.
