Abstract

Background:Although many studies have shown that greater body weight (BW) is associated with a larger bone mass, the relationship of the body mass compartments, fat mass (FM) and lean body mass (LBM), with bone mass is equivocal; FM and LBM having been shown to be both negatively and positively correlated with bone mass.
