Abstract
A 43 mi long, 24 in. dia high-pressure natural gas pipeline was recently built for Oklahoma Natural Gas Co. by KM Engineering Co. and Nelson-Sikes Inc. The line extends through Logan, Kingfisher and Canadian Counties to tie in to the firm's underground storage facility near Edmond. The pipeline will deliver 100-150 million cu ft/day of gas. Two additional 1500 hp compressor units were installed to increase the Edmond underground storage capacity from 10 to 20 billion cu ft/yr. The cost of the pipeline project was $8.5 million and the storage expansion, $2.3 million. The pipe was primed and yardcoated with Reilly coal tar enamel. Glass fabric and Kraft paper were applied as an outerwrap. The field welds were protected with Stuart Super Wrap, manufactured by Stuart Steel Protection Corp. Some details of the right-of-way, the pipeline route, and the construction work are given.
