Abstract
Summarizes progress on a major US project to automate toll collection on the Dulles toll road in Virginia, using automatic vehicle identification (AVI) technology. The Dulles Toll Road AVI-based 'Fastoll' equipment is part of an integrated system which also includes conventional cash toll collection. It will bring substantial benefits in terms of time and cost savings, increased convenience and reduced congestion to commuters from Northern Virginia into Washington DC. >
