Abstract

The intent of this article is to explore the possibility of an opportunity structure for rehabilitation counselors that extends far beyond that which has previously been considered. The current trends that are enlarging the rehabilitation arena. Beyond this, however, career counseling principles are applied to the rehabilitation counseling profession itself. The authors ask, ``To what related and unrelated occupations might one transfer the skills of a trained rehabilitation counselor?'' The answers provide a more expansive view of the true opportunity structure for rehabilitation counselors. Implications for rehabilitation counselor education are addressed.
