Abstract
Hydraulic gradients can be controlled by using valves located strategically on a pipeline to reduce flow or pressure or both. This article discusses possible valve arrangements including those using pressure‐reducing valves, back‐pressure control valves, and throttling valves, operated either manually or by remote control.
