Abstract

Abstract This entry provides an overview of the health care delivery system in Taiwan, followed by a discussion of the country's national health insurance program – the major source of financing for the health care delivery system – its design and operational features. Next we examine the challenges that the health care delivery system faces and the response of the government. We also discuss the role and future of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the Taiwanese health care delivery system.
