Abstract

Occurrences, abundance and seasonal distribution of \t \nthe benthic fauna of the mudbank area at Alleppey \t \nwere investigated. Ihe substratum at the mudbank area \t \nbeing of an unconsolidated and unstable nature due \t \nto the fresh supply of sediments and their periodic \t \nmovement, it was thought that the fauna therein may \t \nbe of a recent colonisation and a study on the animal-\t \nsediment relationship would be of interest. This \t \nwas well established during the present studies with \t \nregard to the occurrence and numerical abundance of \t \nspecies and the benthic population in general.
