Abstract

This paper focuses on single frequency network (SFN) frequency planning algorithms for terrestrial digital audio broadcasting (T-DAB) and terrestrial digital video broadcasting (DVB-T) networks. The concept of "SFN network gain", which results from the fact that the same signal is received from many SFN transmitters, is discussed. Numerical results of "SFN network gain" are also reported. Finally, the paper gives some insight in the T-DAB frequency-planning task carried out by the Italian National Regulatory Authority.
