Abstract The oral administration of quinine and quinidine results in an apparently increased excretion of catecholamines, the effect being greater following quinine. Marked similarity exists in the fluorescence behavior of postquinine and postquinidine eluates and solutions of the model compound 6-methoxy-4-methylcarbostyril. The possibility that quinine and quinidine carbostyrils are responsible for the observed interference is discussed.
