Introduction: Perspectives on Immigration Reform

This essay is an introduction to a special topical volume of the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review, which addresses comprehensive immigration reform. Each of the five student authors in this volume critically examine and attempt to resolve the difficult legal and normative dilemmas raised by key aspects of immigration reform. Each author has focused on a subtopic within a major component of immigration reform including: immigration equality for same-sex partners; the rights of immigrant criminal defendants at the border; the impact of workplace immigration enforcement on law-abiding employers; immigration detention; and immigration courts.
