The object of the research is the movie entitled Sleeping with the Enemy directed by Joseph Ruben. The problem statement is how rising from being inferior is reflected in Joseph Ruben’s Sleeping with the Enemy. The objective of the study are to analyzing the movie based on individual psychological perspective and the structural analysis. \n\tThe research is conducted by using qualitative method; the writer uses two data sources, namely primary and secondary data source. The primary data is the main data obtained from all the words, dialogues, phrases, and sentences occuring in the movie related to the topic directed by Joseph Ruben. The secondary data sources are the supporting data taken from the literary books, criticism, and some articles related to the movie. The method of the data collection is observation. The technique of data analysis is descriptive analysis. \nThe results of the research are as follows. Firstly, based on structural elements of the movie Joseph Ruben wants to present his message that increasing the strength and descreasing the weakness are among other ways of coping with problems. Secondly, based on individual psychological perspective, Joseph Ruben uses psychological phenomenon of a wife who has inferiority feelings to her husband because she comes from a poor family and her husband is a wealthy men, and she also has law education than her husband. She also has no authority to order the equipments in the house. Director hopes someone who has inferiority feeling can striving for superiority. \n
