Abstract

Drivers home and abroad have great difficulties handling with multi-lane roundabouts. In adition to single-lane roundabouts, where the traffic is led clockwise and left coming drivers are in advantage, multi-lane roundabouts demand from drivers the right way of changing lanes. Drivers have to make their minds several times when driving through multi-lane roundabout; at in and out - coming the roundabout and at driving through the roundabout circle. We can improve driving through multi-lane roundabout with appropriate use of vertical and horizontal signs. The paper presents different tipes of circulatory striping, advance lane-use signage, diferent tipes of directional signage and overhead signs and also use of advance pavement markings. For any confirmation about positive influence of vertical and horizontal signs in multi-lane roundabout Ţale in Ljublana we use a simulation software named Synchro Studio 7.0. First we have to simulate an existent situation and than simulate the same multi-lane roundabout with all these improvements above. When we compare both final reports we get some staggering results.
