Open publisher page 2 citations

Abstract

Neutrally-stable tearing modes of a sheet pinch are studied. In particular, an analytical investigation is made of the effect of conducting walls on the tearing modes of a sheet pinch. The stabilizing effect of the conducting walls is shown to arise through a reduction of the range of unstable wavenumbers.
