The Utility of the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) for Evaluating Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS) in Lumbar Degenerative Diseases

Abstract

腰椎変性疾患178例にJapan Orthopaedic Association (JOA) スコアと国際前立腺症状スコア (International Prostate Symptom Score : IPSS) を施行し, 下部尿路症状 (lower urinary tract symptoms : LUTS) の評価におけるIPSSの有用性を検討した. 両評価法の重症度評価には, 統計学的な関連性が認められたが, JOAスコア軽症群がIPSSでは軽症から重症に幅広く評価されていた. また, 腰椎疾患による蓄尿症状の出現がまれではないことが, IPSSにより判明した. IPSSは, LUTSの出現様式も評価可能な7項目35点満点の簡易なアンケートであり, 3段階評価のJOAスコアに比して, 腰椎変性疾患におけるLUTSを詳細に把握し得る有用な評価法と考えられた.
