Abstract

The rabbit liver enzyme, when TPN and citrate were added, converted benzoic acid to m-hydroxybenzoic acid, p-hydroxybenzoic acid to protocatechuic acid, m-hydroxybenzoic acid to protocatechuic acid and gentisic acid, salicylic acid to gentisic acid, phenylacetic acid to p- and o-hydroxyphenylacetic acids, p-hydroxyphenylacetic acid to homoprotocatechuic acid, m- and o-hydroxyphenylacetic acid to homogentisic acid, and anthranilic acid to 5-hydroxyanthranilic acid.
