Land Use Planning in line with improving quality of urban environment (case study:northern Valī-e-aşr town)

Abstract. Rapid growth of urban areas and lack of use of urban planning and land development management raise unsustainable development and numerous environmental, social and economic problems and collapse of indicators of the quality of the urban environment. Hence, employing land development management methods is necessitated to achieve a sustainable development and improve quality of environment at urban areas (the developed and developing areas). The main purpose of this research is to introduce and employ land reform programs as one of the land development management tools at urban areas via unsustainable development and examine the role of these tools as the tools for urban planning for the purpose of improving quality of life at these areas.  In this regard,northern vali-e-asr district was selected as the research area in which the leading indicators of physical quality of environment were examined. Then, land reform plan was provided for this district. The results of studies indicate that however implementation of land reform program faces several challenges and barriers in Iran, physical quality of environment will improve in a large extent under providing the conditions to implement this program.
