Abstract
Salt-gradient solar ponds are a promising source of low-temperature thermal energy, and they are also potentially attractive for electric power generation. The progress of salt-gradient solar pond development, both in the United States and abroad is reviewed. Technical problem areas and their implications for commercialization are discussed. Potential market applications for solar ponds are examined.
