Abstract

This report presents the first national estimates of trends in the fecundity status of all women of reproductive age in the United States regardless of marital status and trends in the use of infertility services....The data for 1976 1982 and 1988 are from Cycles II III and IV of the National Survey of Family Growth....The data for 1965 are from the National Fertility Study....Interviews were conducted with 8450 women...[and] focused on the respondents fecundity (or physical ability to have children); past and current use of contraception; dates and outcomes of pregnancies if any; marriages; use of family planning and infertility services; and a wide range of social economic and demographic characteristics.
