Abstract
For the 3 winter months 1987 (January through March), the GEOSAT data for the Norwegian Sea have been analyzed and the sea state parameters of significant wave heights, wind speed, and minimum significant swell height have been computed. The GEOSAT significant wave and swell heights have been compared to the corresponding WINCH hindcasts. The GEOSAT wind speed have been compared to the DNMI (Norwegian Meteorological Institute) winds which were used as input in the WINCH wave model.
