Automation to Order

While vendors have offered the benefits of computer technology to client libraries, librarians themselves should be imaginative and assertive in seeking opportunities to make use of the new technology. This article describes the efforts of the University Library at UCLA to do this. Since no library can be self-sufficient, the new vendor services that the UCLA Library does use are also described.
