Abstract

The compatibility of economic considerations and the safeguard of the environment is discussed. The effects on the environment of wastes from nuclear installations were studied: transfer of pollutants across the different chains in the environment and the effects of the pollutants on the equilibrium of ecosystems. Knowledge about the initial conditions is very important. Monitoring and control equipment is necessary. The utilization of the experience acquired in health physics measurements for the study of other types of pollution is discussed. (FR)
