British Museum paintings

Frances Edmonds is one of a group of artists selected for the show ‘Territories’ taking place at Galerie Windkracht 13 in Den Helder, Holland this July 2012. This exhibition is curated by Sharon Beavan and Gethin Evans. The artists represented work across the boundaries of two and three-dimensional and time based form. The brief – to interrogate and explore the notion of territories. \n \nFrances will be showing several paintings from the British Museum series, based on imagery collected in the Museum, of artefacts and visitors. The work seeks to explore the experiences of visiting the museum, the encounters with extraordinary objects and the sense of theatrical tableau conjured up within the imposing architectural spaces.
