Abstract

Neem (Azadirachta indica) commonly called ‘Indian \nLilac’ or ‘Margosa’, belongs to the family Meliaceae, \nsubfamily Meloideae and tribe Melieae. Neem is the \nmost versatile, multifarious trees of tropics, with \nimmense potential. It possesses maximum useful \nnon-wood products (leaves, bark, flowers, fruits, \nseed, gum, oil and neem cake) than any other tree \nspecies. These non-wood products are known to \nhave antiallergenic, antidermatic, antifeedent, \nantifungal, anti-inflammatory, antipyorrhoeic, \nantiscabic, cardiac, diuretic, insecticidal, larvicidal, \nnematicidal, spermicidal and other biological \nactivities. Because of these activities neem has \nfound enormous applications making it a green \ntreasure.
