Abstract
The pyrolysis of three standard protoberberine alkaloids—berberine, jatrorrhizine, and palmatine—has been systematically investigated by using electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS). By using the advantages of multi-stage tandem mass spectrometric (ESI-MSn) in specificity, sensitivity, and quickness, the detailed structural characters of the pyrolyzed products of protoberberine alkaloids have been elucidated. Some new compounds information and their structures have been obtained.
