Abstract

This research aims to empirically examine the implementation of Dual Kanban System Using Stochastic Simulation. It simulates the effect of two variables: varied processing times and machines breakdowns on the success of the Kanban system implementation. Q-Basic was used to build and operate the simulation model. The empirical operating of Kanban system showed that the results achieved were better than the research sample studied in terms of increased output by (10.5%), improved capacity utilization (11%), and reduced WIP inventory by (10%). Despite the positive results of the Kanban system, the research revealed that both variables have negative impacts on the Kanban implementation which suggests the need for improvement programmes to handle these impacts.
