Abstract
Case study John, a 23-year-old man, presents to the pharmacy and asks you to recommend something for athlete’s foot. On questioning, John tells you that he first noticed itching and flaky skin on his feet a few days ago; the skin between the second and third toes and the third and fourth toes is affected. The toenails do not appear to be involved. He has been using a cream that his girlfriend purchased from a supermarket (tolnaftate 1% cream) for the past three days, but has not noticed any major improvement in his foot condition. John does not suffer from any known medical conditions and is otherwise fit and healthy. He does not take any regular medications. What would you recommend?
