NEW YORK CITY TRANSIT'S R142 AND R142A NEW TRAIN PROCUREMENT

Abstract

The paper examines the York City Transit's (NYCT) development of technical specifications, contract commercial terms, and Request for Proposal documents for the procurement of New Technology Trains for their A-Division, formerly the IRT. NYCT's original plan was to order 660 new R142 trains, but the order has now grown to a 1550 car order. The car production continues, and the last cars are scheduled for delivery to NYCT in the fourth quarter of 2002.
