Abstract

[1] In the paper “Deep ocean heat uptake as a major source of spread in transient climate change simulations” by J. Boé, A. Hall and X. Qu (Geophys. Res. Lett., 36, L22701, doi:10.1029/2009GL040845, 2009), Figures 1e and 3b were incorrect due to an error in data processing. The correct figures appear here. Consequently, the beginning of paragraph [15] on page 4, which reads as “Figure 3b shows ΔTas in the models at the end of the 21st century versus the climatological present-day temperature difference south of 60°S between surface (0–50 m) and subsurface (500–1000 m) waters. As expected, a high inter-model correlation of −0.83 (p < 0.01) is found between the two quantities” should have read “Figure 3b shows ΔTas in the models at the end of the 21st century versus the climatological present-day temperature difference south of 67.5°S between surface (0–50 m) and subsurface (500–1000 m) waters. As expected, a high inter-model correlation of −0.81 (p < 0.01) is found between the two quantities”. The discussion and conclusions of the original paper are not affected by these corrections. [2] In addition, an incorrect reference was given for the citation of Forest et al. [2006]. Also, the reference for Raper et al. [2001] should have read Raper et al. [2002], and was missing in the reference list of the original paper. The correct references appear here.
