Abstract

This report comprises the program documentation and user's manual for the TI-59 pocket calculator program for determining annual heating and cooling energy consumption of residential buildings. The program embodies the Variable-Base-Degree-Day Method, which has been proven to yield equivalent results as obtained by the comprehensive hour-by-hour simulation calculation, such as DOE-2. Given in this report are step-by-step calculation procedure information on input data, sample calculations, and mathematical basis of the procedure.
