Abstract
This Chapter provides the basic information necessary for designing well functioning vibration isolation systems for various groups of objects. The textbook-like analysis of single-degree-of-freedom vibration isolation systems illustrates influence of damping on vibration isolation as well as importance of the damping mechanism involved in a particular application. Consideration of intentional or non-intentional nonlinearity of vibration isolators is shown to be important.
