Abstract
A concept for a voltage tunable varactor-loaded split-ring-resonator array in a waveguide is described. By tuning the semiconductor varactors the left-handed transmission band below the waveguide cutoff frequency can be shifted in the range of 0.9...2.2GHz. The parasitic effects of the biasing network are investigated. Experimental results are compared to theory to validate the biasing concept.
