Abstract
The present paper deals with the problem of estimation of population mean when non-response occurs due to various inescapable factors in sample surveys. Method of multiple imputations has been used to derive the response for non-responding units and subsequently an estimator of population mean of study variable has been proposed. The bias and the mean square error of the resultant estimator are derived up to the first order of approximations and its properties are studied. Results are interpreted and suitable recommendations have been made.
