Abstract

The combining abillity and heritability analysis for 9 agronomic characters was studied with 7 new male sterile lines and 7 new restorer lines by way of incomplete diallele cross (NCII)design. The results shows that both general combining ability(gca) and specific combining ability(sca)were highly significant in the major characters. The additive variation were principal in panicle length, plant height, spikelets per panicle,1000-grain weight, days from sowing to heading and grain yield. But effective panicle and seed setting rate were controlled by non-additive genes. The heritability of plant height,1000-grain weight and days from sowing to heading were higher, and these characters could be selected in the early generations.C156A,C157A,C95A and C305,C318,C526 had been proved to be ideal parents because of their high combining ability.
