Abstract
An analysis of seasonal heat pump performance in a typical northern United States environment (neighborhood of 8000 degree-days of heating) was performed for several typical commercially available air- and water-source heat pumps. The typical commercially available heat pumps were chosen from an evaluation using certified performance data published by the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI). The seasonal heat pump performance was determined in terms of energy savings over the use of electrical resistance heating alone.
