Abstract
In this chapter we present the basic orthogonal wavelet theory. We construct many orthogonal wavelets that are continuous and may even be smooth functions. The study of orthogonal wavelets begins with the MRA. We begin by showing how an orthonormal basis of wavelets can be constructed starting from such a multiresolution analysis.
