Abstract
Effect of pulsing with anti-ethylene action inhibitors viz., AgNO3, 1-MCP, STS at various concentration along with 8% sugar and distilled water as control were studied for increasing vase life and quality parameter of Cymbidium flowers. Various chemicals conspicuously influence pH, conductivity, osmolarity of expressed sap of flower tepals and carbohydrates content of spike. Maximum vase life, water uptake and minimum flower discoloration and wilting per cent were observed in flowers pulsed with 1-MCP(600ppb) solution. Changes in fresh weight (% of initial weight) were also significantly affected by AgNO3 and STS antiethylene. However, 1-MCP at all concentration, were unable to change the fresh weight during vase life.
