The successful road pricing trial in Stockholm, the use of road pricing to replace fuel tax, the potential use of the 5.9GHz communications protocol with its road safety benefits for road pricing in the USA, the plan for implementation of national road pricing in the Netherlands, implementation of the London congestion charge, and developments in Singapore including the improvement of public transport associated with road pricing. The key success factors are considered to be political commitment, informed public debate, the improvement of public transport in urban areas, and allowing time for attitudes to road pricing to change.
