Abstract
Fast-changing fashions mean over a million tonnes of textile waste end up in landfill each year. A new exhibition at the Science Museum investigates how the latest in design and technology will help to create wear without waste and what we all can do to reduce the impact of throwaway fashion. \n \nDescription of Artwork: \n \nPowerful laser beams were used to cut, join and decorate this polyester shift dress. The laser-melted fabric provides its own finish, keeping it pure and free from chemical coatings. This makes recycling the material much simpler.
