Abstract

This work teaches paediatric cardiac auscultation by means of a booklet and an audio tape that reproduces actual heart sounds. The book describes the basic characteristics of the sounds and murmurs that occur during auscultation, demonstrating proper auscultation and the use of the stethoscope. Pathological and physiological changes, clinical manifestations and laboratory abnormalities are described for each type of heart disease indicated on the EKG, chest film and echocardiogram.
