Abstract

West Michigan auto parts manufacturing has entered what appears to be a period of long suffering: plant closures, layoffs, and once profitable businesses moving south in search of lower operating costs. New grim announcements occur with apparent regularity on the evening news. There are, however, a number of companies in the region that continue to be successful, that are growing and capturing new business at a profit.
