Abstract
The emissivity change of a target and the extraneous radiation noise from its surroundings are essential problems in radiation thermometry. Moreover, when the target is a glossy metal near room temperature, the weak radiance from the object and the temperature drift inside the radiometer increase the difficulty of the measurement. Signal processing using the p‐polarized radiances measured at an angle of more than 80° from the normal was discovered to solve the problems described above, enabling a method for simultaneous measurement of emissivity and temperature at room temperature. In this paper, the basic principle of the measurement and successive experiments are described, and an apparatus for practical use is proposed.
