Abstract
Efficacy and economics of insecticides endosulfan 35 EC, indoxacarb 14.5 SC, chlorpyriphos 20 EC, ethofenprox 10 EC, profenophos 50 EC, emamectin 5 WG, diafenthiuron 50 WP, quinalphos 25 EC, cypermethrin 10 EC and fenvalerate 20 EC was studied at Anand Agricultural University, Anand (Gujarat) during kharif 2004 and 2005, against Helicoverpa armigera (Hubner) Hardwick infesting okra. Among the tested insecticides, indoxacarb 14.5 SC (0.0075%), emamectin 5 WG (0.001%) and diafenthiuron 75 WP (0.05%) performed better to protect the okra fruits from infestation of H. armigera. These treatments yielded higher (119.91, 116.71 and 108.63 q ha−1, respectively) of okra fruits and economic return (1:27.48, 1:16.76 and 1:8.59 NICBR, respectively).
