Standard Sex Offender Assessment, Supervision, and Group Treatment

This chapter provides a brief history of developments in methods for assessing, treating and supervising convicted sexual offenders. Principal current approaches are then described by way of a case example. Mr. N was a 26-year-old male who was convicted for indecent assault and subsequently given a probation order. The authors explain how Mr. N's level of risk and individual treatment needs were assessed, and how his treatment pathway was subsequently determined. Mr. N's journey through his period of supervision, which included him completing a mainstream sexual offending treatment program, is then detailed.
